Jesus, speaking to the disciples about his coming death on Calvary and resurrection, gave them a new commandment (John 13:34). Jesus, gave them this command as he knew that God first loved us and sent him (Jesus) for the express purpose of forgiveness of sin and bringing reconciliation to the father. It is because of the love of the Father that the, Son gave his life, that we might not die in our sins, but live eternally in righteousness with the Lord.
